Former President Barack Obama isn’t even American and his right hand man, ex-Attorney General Eric Holder, is a ‘racist Black,’ according to right-wing radio host and Trump USDA pick Sam Clovis.

A recent CNN KFile review of Clovis’ writings and radio broadcasts from 2012 and 2013 uncovered this and much more, showing how the senior White House adviser regularly pushed baseless theories about the former president’s upbringing and made incendiary remarks about other noted Black leaders.

“… Eric Holder who is a racist Black, he got appointed against racist white people, other than they don’t hire any people of color in the White House, so it’s kind of an ironic twist there,” Clovis said of the former attorney general during a May 2013 episode of his radio show, “Impact with Sam Clovis.”

He went on to describe then-Federal Housing Finance Agency nominee Mel Watt (who also is African-American) as an “irresponsible racist.”

Before gaining national attention as one of the more outspoken advocates of now-President Donald Trump during the 2016 campaign, Clovis was a conservative radio host and political activist in Iowa, CNN reported. Trump later tapped Clovis to serve as chief scientist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, but the Senate has yet to confirm him.

Last week, the investigative news source reported on blog posts from 2011 and 2012 in which Clovis accused progressives of “enslaving” nonwhite citizens, called Black leaders “race traders” and claimed Obama was a “Maoist” with “communist roots.” The former economics professor also raised questions about the former president’s national origin, fueling the ever-rampant conspiracy theories stoked by those in the birther movement.

“For over a decade, Obama allowed his publisher to carry a biography that had him born in Kenya,” Clovis wrote of the former president’s literary biography in an April 2012 blog post. “Only after beginning his pursuit of public office, did he ‘correct’ the entry … Why have the American people not been exposed to his incredible flaws? Could it be that the first African-American president is being given a pass because he’s Black? How incredibly racist is that?”

The literary agent who edited the biography said the mistake was her own and that she made it with no information from Obama, according to CNN.

Among other things, Clovis made unflattering comments about prominent Washington leaders, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who he called “the Batwoman of Alcatraz.” During a May 2013 radio show, he dubbed then-Labor Secretary Tom Perez a “racist Latino” and claimed former Labor Secretary Hilda Solis was a “socialist.”

Clovis even accused former White House staffer and news commentator Van Jones of having a prison record.

“None other than Van Jones, the green jobs person, who we know was a person that very much believed in Mao,” he said in August 2012. “Even though he had a prison record, [he] found his way into the White House.”

Clovis has yet to comment on the unearthed writings. Officials with the USDA and the White House also did not respond to CNN’s request for comment.
